At Bid On Beef, our goal is to connect you to American cattle ranching families, who raise exceptional, high-quality beef for you to enjoy. Here are answers to some commonly asked questions we receive from customers. If you would like more information, you can always reach out to our team here. Contact Us.
What type of cattle do your ranching families raise?
We feature Black Angus and Wagyu beef cattle ranchers on this platform. These breeds have a
natural genetic propensity for high marbling, for maximum flavor, tenderness, and juiciness.
What is marbling?
Marbling is the white flecks or streaks of fat you see in the red meat of the steak. It is technically known as “intramuscular fat.” The more marbling you see, the higher quality of steak. Marbling is what gives steaks that rich flavor and soft texture for a melt-in-your-mouth beef eating experience.
What are the cattle fed?
Our ranching families live in diverse landscapes ranging from coast-to-coast, where regional access to feed and forages is vastly different. And whether it’s the grasslands by the Rocky Mountains, the Northern prairie plains, the fescue of Missouri, or the lush pastures of the east coast, the one commonality amongst all of our partnering ranching families is every beef animal is grass-fed and grain-finished.
How is the beef processed?
All of our ranching partners work with trusted USDA-inspected processing facilities. When cutting meat, we believe having a great partner who specializes in processing high-end beef animals is critical to ensure a great beef-eating experience.
How do you ship the beef?
Following our beef auctions, if you are the winning bidder, the beef will be shipped directly to you by next-day or two-day air, with shipping insurance. You will receive an expected delivery
date from the beef seller, and if you need to change the timing of delivery, special requests can be made with the ranching family.
Our goal is to ensure the beef arrives to you with great care — frozen, neatly and professionally packaged, and ready for your family to enjoy. If you ever have problems with a shipment or
delivery, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Each beef seller has their own shipping fees, and terms will be communicated in the digital catalog for the sale.

How do you vet your ranching families?
The cattle business is a people business, and we prioritize working with top notch ranching families who are true stewards of the land, livestock, and the people they aim to serve. Each family goes through a strenuous interview process, where we ask a series of questions about the cattle genetics, feed, environment, welfare, care, beef quality, processing, shipping process, etc. The featured families on this page come with our highest recommendation.
How do I choose an auction?
Each week, we will feature a new ranching family with a new beef offering. Get to know the families we work with on our Ranching Families page. We are excited to introduce these great folks to all of you!
